It is an insult to the whole police force, says Senior Police Officers' Association chairman.
KUALA LUMPUR: The police strongly criticised Selangor menteri besar Mohamed Azmin Ali for calling Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Khalid Abu Bakar “Barua Umno” or Umno lackey at a ceramah in Permatang Pauh, recently.
Senior Police Officers’ Association (Gazetted Officers Branch) chairman Shah Gzali Khan Shahadad said the police were deeply hurt by the rude remark made by the PKR deputy president.
“The Inspector-General of Police is an institution and the insult meant that the whole police force is deemed to be political lackeys,” he said in a statement, here today.
The statement also represented the Senior Police Officers Association (Inspectors’ branch) and the Police Junior Officers’ Association.
As such, the police urged Azmin to publicly apologise for the insult against the force.
“But to date, Mohamed Azmin had not made any media statement to deny it. So it is evident that he had acted outside the bounds of courtesy and culture for political gains,” he said.
He added that three police reports had been lodged against Azmin.
