Long Jhow Weh, 29, pleaded guilty to filming up the skirt of the 21-year-old victim, with his handphone at the Mid Valley Megamall in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur, at 6.10pm on August 8.
Magistrate Nur A'minahtul Mardhiah Md Nor ordered him to serve a further seven months should he fail to pay the fine.
According to the facts of the case, the victim was going up the second floor on an escalator with her boyfriend when the latter caught the property agent red-handed.
Members of the public and three security guards managed to apprehend Long who then apologised to the victim.
A scrutiny of Long's handphone found that it also contained photographs of other women other than the victim.
In mitigation, counsel Lim Cheong Kiat said it was Long's first offence and that he was remorseful of the deed.
"My client has also apologised to the victim and promised not to repeat the deed; he would also seek counseling for his psychological problem," submitted Lim.
Deputy public prosecutor Noor Svetlana Mohd Noor Nordin urged the court to impose a custodial sentence and a fine considering the humiliation caused by Long to the victim. – Bernama
