Syabas chief executive officer Datuk Ruslan Hassan said, following discussions with Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor), both parties had agreed that Syabas staff would not be affected when it was acquired by the Selangor government.
“They will remain employed, the terms and conditions of their employment will also not change.
“I hope, and I am confident that with the new management and a financial position which I feel will be much stronger than what we have at the moment, I pray for the welfare of the Syabas staff to be much better,” he said at a press conference during the company’s National Day celebrations held at its headquarters here, today.
He said there were several provisions to protect the interests of the employees and any change in the agreement was considered inappropriate.
Commenting on the development of the agreement, Ruslan said discussions between Putrajaya and the Selangor government went smoothly, and he was optimistic that the agreement would be signed on September 13, with the payment of the purchase price that was promised and agreed upon between the two parties.
“I am quite optimistic from what I heard, in terms of the discussions also it is very positive. We see that the relationship now is also much better. – Bernama
