The special task force investigating 1MDB is no longer needed, as advised by the newly-appointed attorney-general Mohamad Apandi Ali.

A statement from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today said it is making the statement on its own behalf and not through the task force as advised by the AG.

"The attorney-general advised that there is no need for the special task force. On the other hand, the investigating agencies can do their job based on the provision of the law (for their own respective agencies).

"With regards to the MACC, it is investigating  SRC International and the RM2.6 billion. Our probe is still on-going," the statement said.

MACC added that each agency had its own internal task force for 1MDB and they would present their investigations to the AG for a decision on whether there was a case and thereafter for criminal prosecution.
