AFTER KHAIRY, SHAHRIZAT NEXT TO 'ABANDON' NAJIB? Women's wing anti-Najib video goes VIRAL

AFTER KHAIRY, SHAHRIZAT NEXT TO 'ABANDON' NAJIB? Women's wing anti-Najib video goes VIRAL
KUALA LUMPUR - The tide in Umno is turning against its president Najib Razak. Once believed to be invincible because of his hold on his party's Youth and Women's wings, Prime Minister Najib Razak now looks set to be forced into resigning soon, abandoned after failing to convince members he was telling the truth about his innocence in a massive corruption scandal.
Bolstering the speculation is a video of a Wanita (women's wing) member making a shockingly vitriolic speech against Najib, accusing him of lying to party members ostensibly over the debt-riddled 1MDB sovereign fund, plus the alleged diversion of a staggering RM2.6 billion into his private bank accounts.
"In Umno, videos and surat layang (anonymous open letters) don't appear by accident. This is a sign that the women's wing will no longer follow Najib blindly. They may not be ready to publicly call for Najib to quit yet, but this is the signal of where they stand and that they mean business," a political source told Malaysia Chronicle.
"The public revulsion and the reaction from Umno grassroots against Najib is too strong. If Shahrizat still carries on ignoring the wishes of the grassroots, she will lose her post."
He was referring to Shahrizat Jalil, the head of Umno's women's wing.
Shahrizat defends Muhyiddin
Over the weekend, Shahrizat had gone against the calls made by the pro-Najib factions in Umno that sacked Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin also surrender his party position as deputy president.
"There is no need to ask him to resign," Shahrizat told a media conference after opening the Bera UMNO division's Wanita, Pemuda and Puteri Delegates' Meetings at Kompleks Rakan Muda Bera on Saturday.
Muhyiddin controversially sacked as DPM after he openly criticized Najib's handling of 1MDB
According to national news agency Bernama, Shahrizat said this when asked to comment on Muhyiddin's media statement that he would not quit the Umno No. 2 post even though there were calls by party division chiefs for him to "resign and take a rest".
Bernama also wrote that "Shahrizat said the resignation calls were not a new issue as there had also been demands for Najib to quit as prime minister."
"If you look at Shahrizat's recent comments on Najib and Muhyiddin, you can see she is not supporting Najib. Now with Khairy openly insisting on a thorough 1MDB probe, Shahrizat too is coming out. Najib won't last, the door is closing on him," said the political source.
Video follows hot on the heels of Khairy's call for MACC probe to continue
Indeed the video of the aggressive woman leader follows hot on the heels of a strong call from Khairy Jamaluddin - the head of the Umno Youth wing - to the police and the Prime Minister's Department to stop blocking the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission from conducting its investigation into Najib's alleged involvement in 1MDB corruption.
Youth chief Khairy had spoken out against the sudden transfer out of 2 MACC directors to the PM's Dept, a move perceived as reeking of intimidation against the officers so as to stop them from carrying out their investigation into Najib's role in the 1MDB scandal
According to Malaysiakini, the speech by Anina Saaduddin saw her claiming that Najib had "lied" to all Umno members.
"Why do you lie to three million Umno members? The party president had lied to us. Don't say three million members support you. I hope the supreme council sends Najib for treatment.
"I support BN. For God, I am an Umno member. No matter what happens, I will vote for BN. I am critical because I love BN. I love Umno. Do not question my loyalty to BN and Umno.
"But you can see our president is lying to us every day. On television, he is talking nonsense," said Anina.
The 3-minute video clip was viewed 216,911 times, just a day after it was uploadedClick here to watch video at bottom of page OR  in Facebook
It is not clear why Anina was haranguing the PM but Najib has fallen foul of his party grassroots after making the astonishing claim that the sum of RM2.6 bil found in his private bank accounts had come from an Arab 'donor'. - Malaysia Chronicle
