Answer the questions, Kluang branch asks Najib

Motion tabled urging Umno leaders to be more aggressive and save the party instead of priority to an invididual

KLUANG: Umno members here, concerned that Najib Razak’s inability to answer allegations raised about him would lead to the downfall of the party, want Umno leaders to decide between saving Najib, the party leader and prime minister, or saving the party.
Their concern was contained in a motion proposed by the Taman Datuk Amar Diraja branch for debate at the Kluang Umno divisional meeting today, which referred to allegations raised about the Altantuya Shaariibuu murder case, financial scandals in 1Malaysia Development Bhd, the government’s purchase of a luxury executive aircraft,
“As Umno members, we are worried with the questions raised about our Number One leader on social media and in the press and several blogs and he was unable to answer these questions,” according to a written copy of the motion handed to the media.
If Najib was unable to give a satisfactory answer, the branch proposed that Umno leaders at all levels be more aggressive about giving “priority to the party instead of on an individual”.
The branch, which is headed by Ghali Hassan, said there was a danger that Umno, the backbone of Malays for a long time, would suffer a downfall at the next general election.
The party’s deputy president, Muhyiddin Yassin has similarly asked Najib to answer for 1MDB, especially after news reports showed a string of financial transactions leading to the deposit of US$700 million in accounts held under Najib’s name.
Muhyiddin is attending the divisional meeting, held at Kompleks Pekan Rabu.
Two weeks ago at Cheras Umno’s division meeting, Muhyiddin demanded that Najib explain the matter to the public and a leaked video of his speech was circulated widely online. Two days later he was sacked from the Cabinet in a reshuffle by Najib, who promoted home minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to be his new deputy.
