The MACC's consultation and corruption prevention panel (PPPR) today demanded that two officers transferred out of the graftbuster agency be returned.

PPPR chairperson Johan Jaafar said he was shocked by the move to transfer MACC special operations division Bahri Mohamad Zin and strategic communication director Rohaizad Yaakob to the Prime Minister's Department.

"PPPR demands that both officers […] be returned immediately to carry out their duties in MACC," he said in a statement.

Johan said the abrupt transfers would only raise more suspicion and fuel conspiracy theories.

Bahri was leading the investigation into state-owned SRC International which reportedly deposited RM42 million into Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's personal bank accounts.

"The panel supports Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin's call for the intimidation against MACC officers to cease," he said.

Prior to the sudden transfers yesterday, several MACC investigators looking at the RM2.6 billion in total deposits into Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's personal bank accounts were also arrested by police and had their homes and offices raided.

MACC deputy chief commissioner Mohd Shukri Abdull has also called for the return of his men, and offered himself in their place.

Johan said while the PPPR saw Shukri's offer as an honourable move, the MACC deputy commissioner should remain where he is and the two transferred officers be returned to the graftbuster agency.

The PPPR is one of five oversight committees for MACC.
