OUT-OF-CONTROL NAJIB NOW OUT TO GAG MACC, AGC? Azizah questions latest MACC, AGC arrests
PKR president Wan Azizah Ismail has expressed concern that the arrest of a former Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) advisor who is a 'tan sri' and an Attorney-General Chamber's officer last night was aimed at intimidating the special task force on 1MDB.
The special task force is probing, among others, claims that RM2.6 billion was deposited into Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's private bank accounts.
"PKR views seriously the arrest of a former MACC advisor and an officer of the Attorney-General's Chambers by the police.
"The series of arrests appear like a threat to the MACC, which is part of the special task force investigating the 1MDB financial scandal," said Wan Azizah (photo) in a statement today.
The duo were remanded for a day today at the Petaling Jaya Sessions Court.
They are being investigated under Section 124 of the Penal Code for activities detrimental to parliamentary democracy.

This comes amid the special task force investigators being accused of trying to overthrow the government.
The special task force's investigation is also facing uncertainty after attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail was sacked on Tuesday.
The special task force comprises the police, MACC, and Bank Negara and coordinated by the Attorney-General's Chambers.
Wan Azizah said these agencies should be given space to fully investigate 1MDB.
"These agencies should not be disturbed, and any transfer of officers or arrests such as this one today only raises suspicion about the independence of the task force to conduct its investigation," she said.
Wan Azizah also urged BN MPs to voice out their concern and not keep mum over the 1MDB scandal. - M'kini
