PKR’S RAFIZI IN BID TO RALLY 25 BN MPS FOR NO-CONFIDENCE VOTE AGAINST PM

rafizi_ramli
(Malay Mail Online) – PKR’s Rafizi Ramli called today for 25 Barisan Nasional (BN) MPs to join federal opposition lawmakers to form the majority in a vote of no-confidence against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
The Pandan MP said a transitional government should be formed with a mandate lasting between two and three years to fix the country’s institutions, but did not elaborate if he would propose a leader from the ruling coalition BN or from the opposition to head the transitional administration.
“Who are these 25 Barisan Nasional Members of Parliament who will dare to step forward to save Malaysia?” Rafizi said in a statement.
“The people are losing confidence and trust in politicians whom they see are unable to push aside political differences to save Malaysia, what more politicians among Umno and Barisan Nasional who appear to be so easily deceived by posts and positions.
“I’m certain that Members of Parliament, be they from opposition parties or Barisan Nasional, understand this sentiment. However, I believe that they are also anxious about the current developments and they still know how to differentiate between what’s true and false,” the opposition MP added.
He said a no-confidence vote should be cast on condition that an interim government is formed, as well as the undertaking of electoral reforms and the creation of a “reformation agenda” that addresses the economy, the sanctity of the law, and press freedom.
“These 25 Barisan Nasional Members of Parliament can create history as the leaders who saved Malaysia from destruction,” said the PKR vice-president.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahdi Hamidi claimed recently that an Umno leader was conspiring with 87 opposition MPs to sign a statutory declaration to show they had the majority voice to move a no-confidence vote against Najib.
Eighty-seven opposition lawmakers coupled with 25 BN MPs will be the majority by a single seat in the 222-seat Parliament.
A blog recently alleged that 20 BN lawmakers were planning to overthrow the government, but several of them have denied the claim.
