'THE PEOPLE MUST NOT GIVE UP' - PKR to hold rally, prayers on tomorrow as Ringgit sinks past 4.00 level
KUALA LUMPUR - PKR lawmaker Rafizi Ramli is organising a rally and prayers in Pandan Indah here tomorrow to pile pressure on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak who has been urged to step down amid the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) controversy.
Rafizi, who is Pandan MP and PKR secretary-general, said the rally tomorrow night will feature opposition leaders like Lim Kit Siang from the DAP, Harapan Baru chairman Mohamad Sabu and PKR election director Datuk Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, among others.
“If the people give up and believe that there’s nothing they can do, Datuk Seri Najib Razak will continue to be prime minister and even more damages will happen,” Rafizi said in a statement.
“Therefore, I as Pandan MP and Angkatan Belia Islam Malaysia (ABIM), have taken the initiative to organise a prayer session and rally with the hashtags #selamatMalaysia #saveMalaysia #sokongSPRM #support SPRM to ensure that the pressure on Datuk Seri Najib Razak is expressed in all forms,” he added.
Tan Sri Gani Patail was recently removed as Attorney-General amid the special taskforce’s investigation on corruption allegations involving state-owned 1MDB, while Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who had been critical of the government’s handling of the 1MDB controversy, was dropped as deputy prime minister in a Cabinet reshuffle.
Several Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission senior officers were also investigated by the police on suspicion of leaking documents on the 1MDB probe, with a couple transferred to the Prime Minister’s Department until public outrage forced the cancellation of the transfer orders. - Malay mail
