With Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Razak busy saving his own skin and position in the party, a PAS leader has asked whether the prime minister still has time to save Malaysia from the falling ringgit.
"The question now arises, does Najib have the time to run the country, restore investor confidence and, most importantly, save the ringgit?" said Tuan Ibrahim in a statement today.
"Who is running the country now, since all the Cabinet members, with the exception of Khairy (Jamaluddin), including the new deputy prime minister, are too busy with their task of defending Najib, even while the ringgit continues to fall?"
Tuan Ibrahim again urged the prime minister to take leave and perform his umrah, as that would allow everyone to return to their work without "unnecessary disturbance".
He said the move would allow the investigation into 1MDB to finish quickly, and that Najib's name would also be cleared quickly if he were innocent.
