KUALA LUMPUR - Stall operators at the canteen of the Jalan Duta court complex were in for a shock when they arrived at the premise to find the whole basement flooded in water.
Those who arrived at about 4am to 4.30am said the whole basement area where the canteen is located was covered in water after a burst pipe caused the ceiling to collapse.
It is learnt that the water pipe burst in the early hours of the morning due to the heavy rain yesterday.
Some food items and clothes from a convenience shop situated directly under the portion of the ceiling that collapsed was damaged in the downpour.
Law books and souvenir items in a bookshop were also reported to be damaged.
At press time, workers were busy cleaning the area while maintenance staff worked to repair the damaged ceiling.
