Air quality in Kuching, Samarahan ‘unhealthy’

The air quality in two areas, Kuching and Samarahan in Sarawak deteriorated to unhealthy level as of 9am today with air pollutant index (API) readings of 107 and 106 respectively.
The Department of Environment in its portal stated that 34 areas recorded moderate API readings including Larkin Lama in Johor (91); Malacca City (98) and Bukit Rambai (95) in Malacca; Port Klang (83), Banting (78) and Shah Alam (72) in Selangor.
Other areas were Putrajaya (76); Batu Muda and Cheras in Kuala Lumpur (66); Seremban (75), Nilai (78) and Port Dickson (81) in Negri Sembilan.
An API reading of 0 to 50 indicates good air quality; 51 to 100, moderate; 101 to 200, unhealthy; 201 to 300, very unhealthy; and 300 and above, hazardous.
