KUALA LUMPUR: Inspector General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar has confirmed that the Thai police have agreed that their Malaysian counterparts can interview an IT executive jailed three years in Bangkok on August 17 for allegedly blackmailing his former employer.
Khalid said the police would interview Xavier Andre Justo, 49, former Director of Petrosaudi International (PSI), as early as this week. “We are making arrangements to interview him soon,” said the IGP on the sidelines of the 4th General Police and Special Equipment Exhibition and Conference Asia at the Putra World Trade Centre.
Khalid was giving an update on the status of the probe team set up by Bukit Aman to visit Justo in Bangkok and investigate claims that he had met Malaysian MPs to sell them inside information which may interest them.
Justo was arrested by Thai police on June 22 after a PSI Director lodged a report against him in Bangkok.
The report alleged that Justo had company documents in his possession and was using them to blackmail the company into paying him further compensation. The company had earlier, reportedly, paid him RM10 million compensation after he was terminated purportedly on the grounds of “misbehaviour”.
