A vote of no confidence intended by the Opposition bloc has left a sweet smile on the prime minister’s face.
Now with the Budget set for Friday, whether the opposition bloc will again drop the bell is yet to be seen.
The Speaker, Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia has said in plain English that if the numbers are not there, out goes any attempt to force the prime minister to step down.
The Electoral reform watchdog, Bersih 2.0 Chairperson, Maria Chin Abdullah has also not minced her words.
She has pointed remarked that the coalition bloc Pakatan Harapan together with PAS must step up to the challenge of all times come Friday, 23 October 2015 when Najib tables the National Budget in parliament.
Even a vote of no confidence by the opposition saw a clutter of strategies go wrong. They could not even agree who should do it in the first place.
Now with the Budget just around the bend, wonder what other let downs the opposition bloc will showcase.
The public keep wondering what on earth is going on with our political hopefuls.
When it comes to training their guns on the Umno-led government under Najib’s Bugis strategies, they seem to get a lot of thumbs up from voters who are tired of the struggles in their daily lives.
But when it comes to the crux of the defining moment of truth, they let quarrels, differences of viewpoints and their own political party priorities get into the way.
Perhaps that also best explains why Tun Dr Mahathir the numero-politician walked into the Berish 4 street protest but made every effort not to associate with any political alignments.
Indeed, if the Budget does not get a thumbing ‘No’ in parliament, it means that Najib was right.
That will be hard to swallow given the fact that the big wigs in Umno and a train of veteran politicians had openly stated that Najib must go to save the country.
