YOURSAY | ‘What has the IGP to say? What has the Johor police chief got to say?’
Vijay47: The inspector-general of police (IGP) resign? It would be a cold day in hell and pigs would be operating airlines before that happens.
If we had an honourable head of police who truly served the Agong rather than political interests and held himself responsible and accountable for grievous offences by those serving under him, he would have resigned long before this latest instance in the shameful record of police savagery.
Ours is a police force replete with almost uncountable cases where the police completely disregarded standard operating procedures or even basic decency and respect of human life and instead embarked on sprees of brutality against persons who had the misfortune of being simply suspected of having done something wrong.
Puchong MP Gobind Singh Deo, you can consider yourself lucky if the police do not charge you with a long list of offences including attacks on parliamentary democracy.
Sa Tombs: There are too many deaths in the hands of those responsible to maintain law and order.
In other countries, not only the IGP but also the minister in charge of the police and the attorney-general (AG) himself would resign. Alas, in Malaysia these people would be honoured for such a crime.
Further, it should not have taken one year to conclude the Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission (EAIC) investigation. This is not a case of 1MDB where you can take your own sweet time.
Pemerhati: Most likely, future developments would be a long-drawn-out ‘sandiwara’ investigation and perhaps prosecution of some scapegoat/s who will then get a rap on the knuckles.
The principled members of the EAIC will be transferred out and replaced with unprincipled lackeys who will in future not raise such matters.
Anonymous_1419577444: Sorry to burst your bubble but if this IGP resigns because of this matter, the sun would have risen from the west.
He'd probably come up with thousands of reasons why these detainees died in detention, none of which will be attributed to rogue police officers.
Remember the deputy public prosecutor who claimed and showed in court how the detainee could have strangled himself to death? That is the contempt that these rogues have for the legal system in Malaysia.
Abasir: C Sugumar, K Kugan, N Dharmendran and countless others and now Syed Mohd Azlan Mohamed Nur. I guess if you kill repeatedly and get away with it each time it is exposed, you lose all fear.
When an independent police commission was proposed, these uniformed men in the 'royal police' ganged up with several Umno lowlifes to protest what they claimed to be an infringement of their rights.
The EAIC was then put up as a compromise - with the powers to investigate but not prosecute. And with the present attorney-general (AG) now exercising that right at the behest of Umno, this killing too will remain a mere statistic.
Wandering Star: Surely our Agong will need to do something for this shameful act and the IGP must take full responsibility. The name 'royal' itself is an embarrassment to the institution.
Zugli: EAIC is doing some good work. I thought it's just a police or government rubber stamp. After so many reported murders by the police, this investigation is probably the first by EAIC.
Maybe this is a new PR campaign by the government to win the hearts and minds of the rakyat. Guess one police officer is dispensable.
Oh Ya?: Accountability is not in ‘kangkung’ land's dictionary. How to expect him to resign?
6th Generation Immigrant: Denials after denials all these years.
From the findings of this case, the EAIC should reopen and review all previous cases, including the two Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) deaths. There must also now be official statements made by those responsible.
What has the BN government got to say? What has the deputy prime minister/home minister got to say? What has the IGP to say? What has the Johor police chief got to say? What has the AG to say? What has Umno to say?
Ex-PJ: When the PM is allegedly a shameless criminal, what justice can citizens expect? How do you answer to Syed Mohd Azlan Syed Mohamed's grieving parents?
Freethinker: One charge was not included - the concealment of evidence since they willfully and intentionally cleaned up the crime scene.
This is a black mark on our police force and they need to make things right by prosecuting the offender. The IGP must apologise to the victim’s family and resign. -Mkini
