JOHOR SULTAN FOLLOWS UP ON SON'S VOW: ORPHANAGES, MOSQUES TO GET DONATIONS AFTER HISTORIC AFC VICTORY
JOHOR BARU - Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar will donate RM1 million to orphanages in the state to fulfill his vow after Johor Darul Ta’zim’s (JDT) victory in the recent Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup final.
In his latest Facebook post, Sultan Ibrahim said Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail had made a vow to give donations to all mosques in the state as the JDT team had clinched the AFC Cup.
“The Tunku Mahkota of Johor said he had made a vow to himself — that if JDT won the Cup, he would give donations to all the mosques in Johor.
“I told him, that I, too, had made a vow — I will donate RM1 million to orphanages in Johor,” said Sultan Ibrahim.
The announcement was made in the state ruler’s official Facebook page at 10.30am today.
Sultan Ibrahim, who is known as a supportive father to his family, said he phoned his son to congratulate him after last Saturday’s match when Johor beat Tajikistan’s FC Istiklol 1-0.
“He (Tunku Ismail) was very emotional, and was crying tears of joy.

“He was so happy. As much as he wanted to be with the team and the fans, he couldn’t be there with them because he had prior commitments,” said Sultan Ibrahim in his post that had since garnered more than 5,400 likes and 350 comments at press time.
In conjunction with JDT’s victory, a special welcoming ceremony for the team would be held at Dataran Bandaraya Johor Baru at 8pm tonight.
Sultan Ibrahim also said arrangements were being made for the AFC Cup to be paraded in all districts in Johor when Tunku Ismail returned to the state on Nov 18. - Therakyatpost
