Deputy Education Minister P Kamalanathan said he was in the dark on the controversial transfer of a Muslim headmaster from Kelantan to a Dayak-majority secondary school in Sarawak.
"I'm just hearing about it from you now. Let me check the real reason behind it," he told journalists at MIC Deepavali open house at Batu Caves.
He was asked to respond to the call made by the parents of SMK Sungai Paoh to reconsider the transfer of the Muslim principal from the peninsula to the school in Sarikei.
"If it is something that we can consider, we will surely consider the appeal but let me first take a look at what actually transpired," he said.
He however dismissed the concerns by the parents who fear their kids may be quietly converted to a Muslim.
"No, I don't think that would happen," he said.
"We are always open for thoughts and opinions and there are always ways to put things into perspective," he added.
It was reported Ustaz Roslin Che Mood, a religious teacher, has reported to duty at the school yesterday.
