MACC not investigating 1MDB, only SRC, says Paul Low

The Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission is not investigating 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) following the attorney-general's move to place the investigations into the state-owned investor under the federal police, Minister in the Prime Minister Department Paul Low said in a written reply to Jelutong MP, Jeff Ooi.

Low said MACC's probe was instead limited to former 1MDB subsidiary, SRC International Sdn Bhd, and for that reason, had contacted businessman Low Taek Jho's lawyer to fix a date to question him.

Ooi had asked what MACC was doing to ‎track Low to assist in the 1MDB probe and why his passport had not been cancelled to ensure he returned to the country.

"For the SRC probe, SPRM has contacted Jho Low's lawyer to set a date to record his statement.

"However SPRM cannot reveal the contents of the discussion so as not to affect investigations," Low said.
