Kuala Terengganu lawmaker Raja Kamarul Bahrin Shah Raja Ahmad reminded the Islamist party that Putrajaya had never heeded PAS's advice in the past, and there was no reason why it would do so now.
"The government of today has not listened to their (PAS) advice throughout its 58 years in power, regardless whether PAS was in government or not.
The former PAS leader said even the Conference of Rulers has advised the government to address the country's economic problems and confidence of crisis, yet Putrajaya has done nothing about it.
"Does PAS think that they have a bigger influence on the government than the Conference of Rulers?" said Raja Bahrin.
Sinar Harian reported today that PAS was not interested in removing Najib, taking over Putrajaya or grabbing positions, but instead wanted to help the government with its policies.
PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang reportedly said the party agreed with some of the Barisan Nasional-led government's policies, including providing aid to the poor, but felt that the implementation had room for improvement.
He also said PAS would abstain from voting down the Budget 2016 speech, as the party's policy was to accept the positive and reject the bad, rather than oppose something wholesale.
But Raja Bahrin today said Budget 2016 was rife with problems, including the 18% slash in allocation for the education ministry, the extra RM1 billion pumped into the Prime Minister's Department, the reduced aid for needy students, and the lack of aid for farmers and fishermen.
"We hope all quarters will be more aware of the problems facing the people today. That is why we invite PAS to join Pakatan Harapan, so that we can have a wider and thorough view of how to save the country.
"Firm action is needed immediately before it is too late," he said.
