Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman Datuk Hasan Arifin says today he is “satisfied” with the explanations offered so far by 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) president Arul Kanda Kandasamy, and that the panel will continue grilling him.
“So far, the explanations are satisfactory,” Hasan said after the panel grilled Arul Kanda for two hours as part of its probe into 1MDB.
Proceedings will continue after lunch break today, said Hasan, adding that the panel has yet to decide if Arul Kanda would be called again.
Arul Kanda refused to speak to reporters after conclusion of this morning’s proceedings.
Last week, PAC grilled former 1MDB CEO Datuk Shahrol Halmi for two days.
Shahrol was questioned on 1MDB's formation and its controversial deal with PetroSaudi.
Arul Kanda is expected to be grilled on the current state of affairs in the company.
PAC vice-chairman Dr Tan Seng Giaw said Arul did not carry any "baggage" as most of the controversial deals took place before he became president earlier this year.
"Most of it took place between 2009 to 2014," he said.
