Boy's private parts hurt when pants caught in escalator

A three-year-old boy sustained injuries to his private parts after his pants was trapped in an escalator at a supermarket in Bagan Serai today.

Bagan Serai Fire and Rescue Department Operations chief Nasir Wahab said the toddler, identified as Mohd Rohaizad Abd Rahman, was believed to be sitting on the escalator during the freak accident at 8.16pm.He said the boy was on the escalator with his father as they were heading towards the toy department on the third floor.

"A team of eight firefighters from the Bagan Serai Fire and Rescue Department arrived at the scene after receiving a distress call from the supermarket staff.

"The escalator was already turned off when the firemen arrived but the boy was still sitting on the escalator as his pants was trapped," he said when contacted byBernama.

He said the rescue mission ended at 8.50pm and the boy was sent to the Taiping Hospital for treatment.
