It's slander! says Ahmad Said of 'sex video' attacks

Former Terengganu menteri besar Ahmad Said refuses to entertain any 'attacks' against him, including allegations that he is involved in old sex video that recently resurfaced on the Internet.
“I don't want to comment on that. I can't be bothered. Right now, all sorts of things are coming out. It's all right.
“If we drag (this issue out), it will only drag on further,” Ahmad said when met at his residence in Kemaman, Terengganu.
Asked if he was afraid of the threat the video posed, the Kijal assemblyperson said he was taking a wait-and-see approach.
However, he would not hesitate to counter the attacks if necessary, he added.
Ahmad also urged members of the public to stop spreading slander, especially if it involved a person's honour.
“I'm not afraid. (If) someone attacks me, I will attack them back. You want me to stop? You want to humiliate me? Umno gains nothing. If (it's) willing to have a state election, okay, go ahead.
“This is about someone's dignity. In the past, slander spread from mouth to mouth. Nowadays, you can slander someone through all sorts of ways. Do we really want to be accountable for such sins?
“God has already said, if we protect other people's dignity, God will protect us. What do you gain (from slandering others)?” he added.
Explicit photographs
The Star Online reported yesterday that a sex video, as well as explicit photographs involving a senior Terengganu politician, are making the rounds on the Internet once again.
The unidentified politician in the video was alleged to have received sexual favours in return for awarding a timber project to some women back in 2009.
Ahmad at that time was serving as the Terengganu menteri besar, before he was replaced by Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman in 2013, following a controversial reshuffle in the state administration.
The report on the sex video appeared a day after it was speculated that Ahmad would table a motion of no-confidence against the menteri besar in the Terengganu legislative assembly on Monday.
However, Monday's sitting went on without a hitch as Ahmad did not follow through with his threat, earning him praise from fellow Umno assemblypersons.

The leader, who has been critical of Umno, has often been seen in events with former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, a harsh critic of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.
BN's hold on Terengganu is shaky as it only has 17 state seats as opposed to the opposition, which has 15.
If Ahmad defects from the party, and is able to persuade another BN assemblyperson to join him, the ruling coalition could lose its grip on the state government. - Mkini
