Johor's Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar has decreed that any form of street demonstration would not be allowed in the state as such action can be seen as affecting public order.
“It is irresponsible for people to gather in public places and insult leaders and certain individuals.
“I would like to stress that I would not allow any kind of demonstration to take place in Johor,” he said at a Bangsa Johor gathering in Pasir Gudang indoor stadium today.
Sultan Ibrahim also asked the various non-governmental organisations not to take part in street demonstrations, reports The Star.
He said that if they are not satisfied with the government, they should use the proper channels to voice dissatisfaction, instead of taking it to the streets.
“Go and meet your respective elected representatives, and if they fail to voice your grievances, then by all means choose a new leader who is capable to do the job,” he was quoted as saying by the English daily.- Mkini
