Judge recuses self in Nurul Izzah redelineation judicial review

The judge in PKR's Lembah Pantai Nurul Izzah Anwar's judicial review application regarding the Election Commission's redelineation proposal has recused herself.
"Today was the case management but the judge (Hanipah Farikullah) has recused herself seeing as she has a close relationship with Election Commission chief Mohd Hashim Abdullah, who is also the first respondent," Nurul Izzah told reporters at the Kuala Lumpur High Court today.
She had filed the judicial review application last Friday.
The application was filed to contest the EC's redelineation review proposal, which has been criticised as an attempt to engineer the elections in the ruling government's favour.
"It is with this lawsuit that I hope to fight against an election process that is fraught with flaws and that usurps," Nurul Izzah said.
Separately, PKR's strategic communications director Fahmi Fadzil said three residents and voters of the Setiawangsa parliamentary constituency filed a judicial review today.
Their judicial review is to challenge the EC's decision to reject the objections of 110 Setiawangsa voters to the redelineation proposal and for not holding a local inquiry.

Fahmi said on Oct 11, he and a representative of the 110 voters, Nalina Nair, submitted the letters of objection to the EC.
However, he said in a letter dated Oct 17, which was two days after the deadline for objections, they were informed that their objection had been rejected.
The reason given was that they lacked the necessary objections from 100 voters.
"Because we are sure we submitted 110 letters of objection before the deadline, we are of the opinion that the EC's decision does not make sense, is of malicious intent and is illegal.
"That is why we filed this judicial review," Fahmi said.- Mkini
