Zein Isma Ismail says if Selangor government persists with Splash takeover, then the people may see their water bills coming to as much as RM1,200 per year.
SHAH ALAM: The people in Selangor might see their water bills coming to as much as RM1,200 annually if the state government insists on splurging RM2.7 billion to take over Syarikat Pengeluar Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Splash), said State Umno Information Chief Zein Isma Ismail.
He said this was because the price was 10 times more than the original offer of RM250.6 million when Khalid Ibrahim was the menteri besar.
“We fear the 2.4 million people in Selangor, irrespective of whether rich or poor, will be forced to pay RM1,200 annually each to cover the extra RM2.45 billion as claimed by Khalid.
“Each voter in Selangor must also ask whether they will be happy enriching Splash’s shareholders,” he told a press conference here yesterday.
Current Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali has claimed that under Khalid’s leadership, the state government had offered RM2.975 billion to take over Splash, but the former MB has denied this and said instead that the figure was only RM250.6 million. -FMT
