Communication and Multimedia Minister Salleh Said Keruak has commended DAP lawmaker Lim Lip Eng for retracting the crude remarks he hurled in Parliament.
“It is good that Lip Eng has decided to retract his remarks. I must commend him for doing so, instead of defending the indefensible,” he told Malaysiakini.
Salleh also said that MPs and state assemblypersons must keep their emotions in check, and not get carried away during proceedings.
“We must always maintain decorum. Only then can we have civil exchanges instead of mudslinging and hurling insults at each other,” he said.
Yesterday, Salleh reminded the opposition to practice what it preached after Lip Eng's outburst in the Dewan Rakyat.
The Segambut MP became incensed when Umno information chief and Ketereh MP Annuar Musa refused to let DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang interject to rebut the jibes made against him.
Among others, Lip Eng called the Umno information chief "pondan" (queer), “separuh jantan” (half a man) and "chicken s***".
His remarks also drew criticism from fellow DAP lawmakers.
This morning, Lip Eng retracted the remarks.
"Yesterday, I used some inappropriate words against Ketereh. I wish to retract the remarks with the speaker's permission," he told the House.- Mkini
