DESPERATE PEOPLE DO CRAZY THINGS: NEXT TIME MAY NOT BE SO LUCKY FOR DR M – NAJIB’S RED SHIRTS CHIEF JAMAL JOINS POST-FORUM FRAY WITH VEILED THREATS

Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president Muhyiddin Yassin said claims that his party perpetrated the violence at the “Nothing to Hide 2” forum yesterday were made by “crazy” people.
“We couldn’t possibly plan to create trouble at our own function.
“People who make such suggestions may be a little crazy (sewel) and irrational.
“This is our function, we want to organise it in a proper way – in a way that we can provide (Bersatu chairperson) Dr Mahathir Mohamad a platform to explain (issues),” he told a press conference at the Bersatu headquarters in Petaling Jaya today.
Earlier today, Sungai Besar Umno chief Jamal Md Yunos claimed Bersatu had planned to create trouble at its own event.
The prime minister’s press secretary Tengku Sharifuddin Tengku Ahmad also claimed that the “Nothing to Hide 2” chaos was a case of the opposition supporters turning on each other.
Yesterday, while Mahathir was speaking at the Shah Alam function, slippers, bottles, flares and chairs were hurled at his direction.
None of the items landed on Mahathir and he was unhurt.
Bersatu Youth chief Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman claimed agent provocateurs acquired Bersatu T-shirts and slipped into the event with the intent to hurt Mahathir.
Elaborating on the incident, Muhyiddin described it as “unfortunate” and condemned those who had created trouble.
“We were not sure how they came into the venue, we had not expected it.
“We are politicians, we don’t have the skills to identify whether someone was good or bad,” he said.
Muhyiddin was responding to police which said Bersatu should be held responsible for failing to maintain security at the event.
Three suspects were arrested following the incident yesterday.
MEANWHILE, Malaysiakini also reported:
Sungai Besar Umno leader Jamal Md Yunos is planning to organise a “Nothing to Hide” forum himself, where DAP’s father and son Lim Kit Siang and Guan Eng would be invited to attend.
He added that Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali would also be extended an invitation.
Calling it “Nothing to Hide 0.3”, he said the forum would be held in Chow Kit, Kuala Lumpur, in the middle of next month.
However, Jamal, who also heads the red-shirts movement, said Pakatan Harapan chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad would not be invited.
“We are not inviting Tun Mahathir because we are worried that if he attends, there will be trouble.
“We will only invite those whom we consider being well-mannered,” he told a press conference in Kuala Lumpur.
Jamal also gave assurance that no untoward incidents would occur similar to what that had happened at the “Nothing to Hide 2” event in Shah Alam yesterday.
Asked to explain why his event was called Nothing to Hide 0.3, Jamal said it was synonymous with Pakatan Harapan whom he branded as a haphazard party.
“We don’t want to follow them so we have flipped it just like how haphazard they are.
As usual, Jamal never fails to come out with all sorts of gimmicks for his press conferences.
Together with Umno Youth exco Armand Azha Abu Hanifah, the duo donned hooded sweaters during the press conference today.
“We are trying to show how Nothing to Hide yesterday was supposedly about masquerading but media personnel here know who I am and beside me (Armand),” Jamal said.
He also revealed the possible questions to be raised at the event, including whether Kit Siang was born in China and how does Guan Eng, who is Penang chief minister, administer the state.
“The questions to be asked are about Guan Eng’s identity, where is Kit Siang from?
“We see a lot of questions on this on social media. Was he born in China? How does (Guan Eng) administer Penang to the point that Malay housing areas are almost wiped out?
“As for Azmin, we will ask him to explain to Malaysians and the people of Selangor regarding the promises in the GE13 manifesto which have not been delivered,” he added.
Kit Siang’s place of birth was recently raised by a pro-BN NGO, and the veteran politician snapped at journalists when posed with this question.
According to reports, the 76-year-old DAP leader was born in Batu Pahat, Johor.
Will lodge police report
Meanwhile, Jamal said that a police report will be lodged over the violent incident at the “Nothing to Hide 2” event.
Jamal claimed that the report will be lodged based on evidence he has in relation to the fracas.
“We knew from the start, that there would be chaos an hour after Mahathir spoke and that Umno will be blamed for it.
Jamal claimed that he had received a WhatsApp message from “that group” purportedly confirming that there would be a provocation.
“This was done by them (Bersatu) after the audience was unsatisfied with Mahathir’s answer,” he added.
The forum yesterday was disrupted after a small group threw flares, slippers, bottles and chairs, among others, when Pakatan Harapan chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad was speaking.
Police have arrested several individuals in connection with the incident.
