Kit Siang wants 'masterminds' behind ruckus traced, points finger at Umno

Lim Kit Siang has urged the police to track down the alleged masterminds behind the fracas at the Nothing to Hide 2.0 forum.
“Investigation and action must be taken not only against the actual culprits but the masterminds of the ruckus, and a special effort must be made by the authorities to trace these masterminds.
“It should not be difficult to trace the masterminds, although the actual culprits of the ruckus could only lead to their 'handlers', it is these 'handlers' who would lead to the masterminds,” he said in a statement.
The veteran DAP leader classified the case as a test of the police's professionalism.
As for those who disrupted the forum in Shah Alam yesterday, Lim said he pitied them for allowing themselves to be used as tools for a pittance.
The Gelang Patah MP suggested that Umno was behind the incident, which saw flares ignited, chairs being thrown, and shoes lobbed at Pakatan Harapan chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
He claimed that the ruckus signalled the growing panic of Umno leaders that the ruling coalition would lose the next general election.
Lim claimed that Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and the ruling coalition's confidence of retaining power in the next general election because the opposition was weak and divided had evaporated following the announcement of a unified Harapan.
He said all that is needed to defeat the federal government in the 14th general election is for at least 10 percent of Malay voters, five percent for Chinese and Indian voters, who voted for BN in the last election to switch support and vote for Harapan.

“If this happens, then out of the 165 parliamentary seats in Peninsular Malaysia, BN could end up with 50 seats, PAS, which has become the greatest apologist and defender of Najib and his 1MDB scandal, two seats, while Harapan could win as many as 113 seats – setting the stage for a change of federal government for the first time in 60 years.
“This is the reason for the ruckus at the Nothing to Hide forum,” he added.
Umno leaders have chided their opposition counterparts for blaming the violence at the forum on them.
The police have arrested three youths in connection with the incident.
Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Youth have denied that the suspects are its members, claiming that there were those paid to masquerade to be members of the wing. - Mkini
