ROS delay affecting Harapan's GE14 prep, says Dr M

There have been no updates from the Registrar of Societies (ROS) regarding the Pakatan Harapan's application to register as a coalition.
Coalition chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad said he hoped the ROS would act swiftly on their application because elections could be called at any time.
"We have not received any response from the ROS, although we have met their officers for feedback on the application and acted on their suggestions to amend the logo.
"We need to prepare for the elections. We need to print flags, banners and we need to have a logo," he told reporters after chairing Harapan's presidential council meeting at Parliament today.
Harapan is attempting to register as a formal coalition in order to contest under a single logo during the next general election.
However, previous attempts by Harapan to do the same were unsuccessful.
Meanwhile, Mahathir announced that Harapan's leadership has resolved that an election manifesto specifically to address the concerns of people in Sabah and Sarawak would be drafted.
He said party leaders agreed that there was a necessity to understand the needs of East Malaysians and the intricacies of politics in these two states.
"This will be refined when the special committee meets. A report to the Harapan presidential council would be ready by Aug 24.

"We want to hear suggestions from everyone regarding our manifesto for Sabah and Sarawak, and the rest of the country," he said.
Harapan leaders also appointed PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali as the coalition's director of elections and will be part of the coalition's elections committee, chaired by Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia president Muhyiddin Yassin.
The coalition also appointed Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) president Mohamad Sabu as its communications and mobilisation chief, while PKR women's wing leader Zuraida Kamaruddin was appointed the coalition's women's wing chief. - Mkini
