Deputy Prime Minister and BN deputy chairperson Ahmad Zahid Hamidi says the ruling coalition is 95 percent ready for the 14th general election (GE14).
“I would put our readiness right now at 9.5 on a scale of 1 to 10,” The Star reported Zahid saying in an interview.
He repeated that the "big day" would likely come after Chinese New Year, which falls on Feb 16.
“As head of the task force appointed by the prime minister and BN chairperson (Najib Razak) to ensure our readiness to face GE14, we are going to the battleground as soon as the gong is struck by the PM," he added.
However, Zahid said that his hints about the election date being after the Lunar festivities "doesn’t mean immediately after the festival”.
In 2008, Parliament was dissolved on Feb 13, six days after Chinese New Year.
BN's term ends next June 24 and the election must be held within 60 days after the dissolution of Parliament.- Mkini
