IN THE NAME OF GOD, GO! BEWARE NAJIB, LIKE CROMWELL, MAHATHIR IS A MAN OF ACTION – HE MAY NOT CHOP OFF YOUR HEAD BUT FOR SURE HE WILL ‘KICK ASS’

The following was written by Wan Mohd Shahrir in 2013. Wan Mohd Shahrir is the Pahang State Chief of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia as well as a member of the party’s supreme council.

Return of Mahathir?
Let me warn you, this topic is purely speculative.
As a romantic writer, I always like to compare past history with the current situation. I found out, after Oliver Cromwell handed over the government to Parliament, his successor didn’t possess the capacity and seriousness in running the government.
He even called them Pimps because they ran Parliament and the country like a brothel. Impatient, Cromwell led his army and positioned them outside Parliament. He then entered the Parliament and listened to the Members of Parliament’s endless debates and arguments.
Tired of inaction, he rose and uttered his famous words:
“You have sat too long for any good you have been doing lately. Depart I say, and let us be done with you. In the name of God, GO!”
Usually, after a great man – any great man, left a historical scene, there would be  a void no one can fill.  Just as struggles breed success, in turn success breeds complacency. Complacency leads to failure and doom.
Every nation will face this challenge, but as Darwin puts it: the success of any species not depend entirely on the fittest or most intelligent but on those who are responsive to change.
Cromwell made changes after the failure of his Rump Parliament. He transformed the ineffective government of the Rump Parliament to the Barebones Parliament. For the second time Cromwell led the nation – under the title of Lord Protector.
Prior to WW2, Neville Chamberlain’s administration failed to read Hitler’s bluffs. Please read again my  posting under the entry “Peace In Our Time”. Chamberlain hesitated to declare war against Germany even after Hitler failed to keep his promises.
Leo Amery  then attacked Chamberlain’s administration, and re-quoted Cromwell’s famous words: “You have sat too long for any good you have been doing lately. Depart I say, and let us be done with you. In the name of God, go!”
This speech inspired British politicians. They acted quickly and 42 Conservative MPs voted against Chamberlain and brought the downfall of the Conservative government.
Every great nation always learns from history. It was Karl von Clausewitz who suggested that “It’s even better to act quickly and err, rather than wait and let the opportunity slip away”.
And Clausewitz was a man who distilled Napoleon’s genius into military science in his famous work:  ‘On War.’  This book also contributed  to the rise of general staffs in the military and the “war room” concept.
In the nutshell, the survival of our nation – in fact  any nation – depends of how we respond to challenges.  After Tun Mahathir resigned from the premiership, no one could fulfill  the void he left behind. Maybe it was due to his failure to develop a  successor.
And worse, nobody really wants to take drastic action to save the nation. Both sides of the political divide are busy with politicking. It would seem that our politicians, from the Ketua Pembangkang to the PM are busy preserving their own existence.  They really seem to enjoy managing this country “like running a brothel”.
Shall we propose to bring back Tun Dr Mahathir, as our own Oliver Cromwell? Should he enter the UMNO Assembly and  utter Cromwell’s famous words:
“You have sat too long for any good you have been doing lately. Depart I say, and let us have be with you. In the name of God, GO!”
Ah, all these can only happen in my imagination.
My comments :  Well that was written FIVE YEARS ago by Wan Mohd Shahrir. It is now becoming true.  Cromwell was a scholar as well. A man of words.
More than that Cromwell was a man of action. Cromwell kicked ass. He also chopped off the King’s head. But this is the 21st century. We just need to remove these Thieves.
