Mahfuz apologises to palace, denies insulting Pahang sultan

Pokok Sena MP Mahfuz Omar has apologised to the Pahang palace over his comments about Sultan Ahmad Shah, but maintains he never intended to insult the monarch.
This was in light of Pahang crown prince Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah’s advice that the former PAS lawmaker should not have "spoken out of turn" about someone older than him.
“I apologise to the Pahang palace if my speech was seen as offensive by the palace.
“I had no intention to court the wrath of the palace, I am not insulting (the sultan).
“If you listen to my speech, what I brought up was the issue that age was not an obstacle for someone to be a leader or a chief.
“Age is no barrier. If the Pahang sultan can be a sultan, there is no problem for others (to be leaders as well),” Mahfuz told Malaysiakini today.

Mahfuz was rapped by several parties after he cited the 87-year-old Sultan Ahmad Shah's (photo) bedridden state as an example to respond to criticisms on whether 92-year-old Dr Mahathir Mohamad was fit to be Pakatan Harapan's prime ministerial candidate.
Pahang Umno leaders accused Mahfuz of insulting the monarch, while Pahang Umno Youth demanded that he be probed under the Sedition Act 1948 for his comments.
Multiple police reports have also been filed against him.- Mkini
