MORE than three-quarters of Malaysians picked Deputy Prime Minister Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as their top performing minister, in a poll conducted by Merdeka Centre for Opinion Research.
The survey, released today, said that Wan Azizah was Malaysians’ top pick at 75%, followed by Economic Affairs Minister Azmin Ali (64%) and Home Minister Muhyiddin Yassin (62%).
Among the 1,160 voters surveyed, 60% said they were satisfied with Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng, and 58% were happy with Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu.
The survey also included ministers Dzulkefly Ahmad and Maszlee Malik, and Attorney-General Tommy Thomas.
Among the seven ministers, those with the lowest satisfaction ratings were Maszlee (50%) and Dzulkefly (53%).
Maszlee’s performance came in last (41%) among non-Malays and at 54% for Malays.
Thomas received an overall satisfaction rating of 49%.
The survey showed a major difference between Malay and non-Malay voters, with Malays who were satisfied with Lim and Thomas at 44% and 37%, respectively.
Non-Malays, meanwhile, picked Lim as their top performing minister at 84%.
Top of the list for Malay voters were Wan Azizah (71%), Muhyiddin (70%), and Azmin (68%).
Top picks for non-Malays were Lim, followed by Wan Azizah (66%) and Thomas (67%).
The survey by Merdeka Centre was conducted between August 7-14 and polled 1,160 voters across 222 constituencies.
