SHAH ALAM: “If it makes them happy, then so be it.” - those are the words of businessman S. Kanagarajah, in a video clip of him shouting during the fracas at the Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman temple, that has been going viral on social media.
“It wasn’t on purpose, if you see that your friend’s face is bleeding after being cut. We were helping them at the time,” he said of the incident at the temple in USJ25, Subang Jaya.
He said that he was very disappointed with what happened.
Kanagarajah recalled that a group of men had entered the temple with sharp weapons (in the pre-dawn hours of Nov 26).
‘At the time, we were having prayers and there were about 40 people, including women and the elderly. We just wanted to protect them,” he said.
He said what occurred was 100% not a racial issue and that they were friends with everyone.
As for the video, Kanagarajah said he did not receive any threats from anyone, after it went viral.
The video has sparked parodies on social media, with the hashtag #Deychallenge and #Theyychallenge. - SINAR HARIAN
