Azmin: Selangor breeds successful Malays, not neglect them

SEMENYIH POLLS
 | PKR deputy president Mohammed Azmin Ali today brushed off opposition allegations that Malays in Selangor were being neglected, pointing to how there are many successful Malays in the state.

"Some are coming to Semenyih with slanderous allegations to convince the Malays to back away from Harapan... They are trying to scare the Malays into thinking that they were oppressed and that (the government) is controlled by DAP.
"They kept harping on this to win the support of the Malays. Selangor is not a state with 100 percent Malays and Muslims, there are Chinese and Indians too," he added.
"During my four years tenure as the state menteri besar, I execute my duty sincerely and honestly. I never betray the Malays in Selangor. The Malays in Selangor are the most advanced and successful as compared with those in other states," he said.
Speaking at a ceramah in Sungai Jai, which is a BN stronghold, Azmin said voters should not fall for BN's racial rhetoric because it can cause ethnic friction and scare away investors who are crucial in providing high wage jobs.
When approached by reporters later, Azmin said he disagreed with the findings of Ilham Centre's survey, which predicted that BN will win the by-election.

"I am confident and optimistic... At the end of the day, the rakyat will decide based on the performance of the government and political parties," he said.
Ilham Centre had predicted that Pakatan Harapan would need to retain the same level of support and encourage a high voter turnout, which the firm dubbed as the "magic formula", seen during the last general election to clinch victory.
When asked about the "magic formula", Azmin said Harapan does not rely on magic because it has worked hard to serve the people of Selangor over the past 10 years. - FMT
