PETALING JAYA: DAP lawmaker Hannah Yeoh (pic) says there is nothing "man" about being rough, physical or violent.
"That's a bully, not a man. Papagomo and Umno ought to be schooled," she said in a Facebook post on Friday (March 1).
Yeoh, who is Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister, said that a man has the right to reject any form of physical touch that is deemed uncomfortable.
She said this in response to a remark by Umno Youth chief Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki on Thursday (Feb 28) night, who had sarcastically questioned Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman's manhood.
.This comes after blogger Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris, also known as Papagomo, was charged under Section 509 and 323 of the Penal Code on Thursday (Feb 28) with intending to insult the modesty of the minister by saying to him "Ko bodoh" (you are stupid) and with causing hurt on Syed Saddiq.
Asyraf claimed that Section 509 of the Penal Code was only used in cases involving women or "pondan" (effeminate men) in the past.
According to Yeoh, Syed Saddiq is a young individual who should be emulated by Malaysians.
She said they should speak up and report on such cases.
"A man has the right to say NO if he is not comfortable with you touching him," she added.- Star
