FOUR DAP leaders have sent a letter of demand to Jaringan Melayu Malaysia president Azwanddin Hamzah, seeking a written apology and damages, over allegedly defamatory remarks against them.
They are Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng, Deputy Defence Minister Liew Chin Tong, Iskandar Puteri MP Lim Kit Siang and Damansara MP Tony Pua.
“In a YouTube video, Azwanddin made defamatory statements against the four,” said the group’s lawyer, Ramkarpal Singh.
He said Azwanddin accused Guan Eng of diverting a RM200 million allocation for Malay education to fund Chinese temples.
Azwanddin also claimed that Guan Eng performs rituals with Buddhist monks at the Finance Ministry daily.
“He also alleged that Kit Siang and Pua ordered the removal of the Malay agenda from the civil service, and that DAP ordered the appointment of Chinese in government-linked companies, thus, hurting the Malay agenda,” said Ramkarpal, who is also Bukit Gelugor MP.
“Azwanddin must apologise unreservedly and pay damages. If he fails to respond within seven days, a suit will be filed against him.”
