CCTV footage submitted to authorities, Sandakan hotel insists

The Four Points hotel in Sandakan, Sabah, which is at the centre of the gay sex video controversy.
PETALING JAYA: The hotel at the centre of the gay sex video controversy linked to Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali maintains that it submitted all necessary CCTV footage to the authorities, following claims that material from the security cameras outside the room where the alleged tryst took place had been deleted.
“We are aware of recent reports about the incident involving Haziq Aziz and Azmin Ali,” a spokesman for the Four Points hotel in Sandakan, Sabah, told FMT.
“We can confirm that we have been cooperating with the relevant authorities and have submitted all relevant hotel security CCTV footage to the relevant Malaysian authorities as requested on June 14, 2019.”
The spokesman said any further queries should be directed to Bukit Aman.
Last week, PKR’s Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak who was detained with former Santubong Youth chief Haziq and several others maintained his claim of a conspiracy in his arrest.
He said during his eight-day custody under police remand in connection to the distribution of clips from the video, he was asked a series of “unrelated questions”.
“When I asked them about the CCTV footage at Four Points, which would clearly show whether the two accused entered the same room, police said the footage had been deleted,” the Perak PKR chief said.
The video clip, purportedly taken from CCTV footage at the hotel, was uploaded to YouTube early this month. It shows individuals resembling Azmin, Haziq and Azmin’s political secretary, Hilman Idham, passing through what appears to be a hotel corridor.
Four Points said at the time that it was aware of the video.
Haziq had named the hotel as the venue at which the tryst allegedly took place. He also claimed the other man seen in various clips that have gone viral was Azmin.
The PKR deputy president has strongly denied the claim and has threatened to take legal action. - FMT
