PETALING JAYA: Water supply to Gombak, Hulu Selangor and Kuala Selangor has been fully restored, while restoration to four other affected areas is 96% completed.
Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) said as at 6am Wednesday (July 24), supply had been restored to 99% of its customers in Kuala Lumpur, followed by Kuala Langat (97%), Petaling (96%), and Klang as well as Shah Alam (94%).
Diesel pollution detected at raw water sources on Sunday (July 21) had forced the closure of four treatment plants, just days after Syabas struggled to restore supply after addressing odour pollution last week.
Syabas, a member of Air Selangor Group, had to shut down operations at Sungai Selangor Phase 1, 2 and 3, and Rantau Panjang water treatment plants twice within days.
Apologising for the inconvenience, Air Selangor Customer Relations and Communication Department head Abdul Raof Ahmad said customers' cooperation to use water sparingly during the recovery period was much appreciated.
"We will continue deploying lorries ferrying water tanks to affected areas," he said.
Water supply is expected to be fully restored by 9am Saturday (July 27).- Star
