PETALING JAYA: Police said today they are investigating the spread of a confidential document through messaging application Whatsapp.
In a statement, PDRM corporate communications head Asmawati Ahmad said they will be conducting the investigation under Section 203A of the Penal Code to identify the source of the leak.
Asmawati added that investigations will be conducted under Section 203A(2) of the same act, which carries a RM1 million fine or a maximum jail sentence of one year or both.
“Parties in possession of any classified information received from any party should not share or spread the document,” she said.
Asmawati urged those with information on the leak to come forward to assist the police with their investigations.
She did not say what this “secret” document was related to. - FMT
