Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad (above) today rejected suggestions that he had links with companies involved in the renewable energy sector.
"I reject this suggestion that these players were related to me. I (want to) ask all my relatives: 'Did you get anything from me?'."
Mahathir was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the International Greentech and Eco Products Exhibition and Conference Malaysia 2019.
He was asked what he would do to ensure that contracts to develop renewable energy were done fairly. The journalist had suggested that "previous players were connect to you (Mahathir)".
Mahathir stressed that contracts will only be given to those with viable proposals and "not necessarily (my) son-in-law".
"I will ask for your credentials," he said.
He added that there were many opportunities in the renewable energy sector now and hoped more players would join in. - Mkini
