Zuraida: PKR must probe claims of plot to thwart PM succession plan

PKR vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin today urged party leaders to investigate claims of an alleged plot to thwart a succession plan for the prime minister's post.
"If it is true (that there are such claims), Keadilan must investigate and if (the claims are) found to be true then actions must be taken.
"Everyone must remain loyal to the promise and perform our duties well. There is no need to threaten (each other)," Zuraida said during a press conference today.
She made the remarks when asked for comments on Pakatan Harapan's claims that Umno's Sembrong MP Hishammuddin Hussein is pushing for the formation of a government that will exclude both DAP and Amanah.

The alleged plot is also said to be part of plans to thwart PKR president Anwar Ibrahim's rise as the eighth prime minister to succeed Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
The Pakatan Harapan secretariat had on Tuesday alluded to back door negotiations allegedly pursued by Hishammuddin and urged the Sembrong Umno division chief to cease such efforts.
Their joint statement was issued following Anwar's veiled references about such an effort when debating the Budget 2020 speech.
Hishammuddin had denied the allegations but, sources, however, subsequently claimed otherwise and revealed that the former Umno vice-president is also working with those within Harapan.
When Malaysiakini spoke to multiple sources from both sides of the political divide, three names surfaced – Bersatu's MP for Larut Hamzah Zainuddin, Bersatu's Redzuan Yusof, who is also entrepreneur development minister as well as PKR number two and Economic Affairs Minister Azmin Ali.

Last night, the PKR central leadership council urged all parties to be aware of quarters are making backroom deals to advance their own political interest.
'Stop raising power transition issue'
Quizzed on her personal stand on the succession plan, Zuraida said all parties have agreed to stop raising the issue and instead focus on their duties to the people.
"Stop raising the issue. We continue our work like today's river clean-up," said Zuraida who earlier launched Petronas' "Be Green & Water For Life" programme at the Higher National Youth Skills Institute (IKTBN) in Hulu Langat.
"When the time comes, Allah SWT will decide," she added.
Also present were Petronas Foundation board member Zaini Ujang, Petronas Chemicals CEO Sazali Salleh and Youth and Sports Ministry deputy director Azmi Ahmad. - Mkini
