Anwar: No race card in Tg Piai, there was swing in Chinese and Malay voters

PKR president Anwar Ibrahim (above) said he does not believe there was a race element in the Tanjung Piai by-election results as there was not only a swing from Chinese voters, but also from Malay voters.
"There is a swing in Chinese voters and there is also a swing in the Malay voters too, so I don't believe there is a race card.
"I think we need to truly understand the frustrations of our people, Malays, Chinese and Indians.
"The message is for us to take stock," Anwar, who is also the Port Dickson MP, said to reporters in parliament today.

If Pakatan Harapan still does not learn after this by-election, then they are not qualified to lead the government, he said.
Anwar had earlier said BN's overwhelming majority in the Tanjung Piai by-election came as a shock, and that they must learn from the results.
"We need to work to instil confidence in the people towards Harapan's policies by fulfilling our promises," he had said on Saturday night, after the results were announced.
BN's candidate Wee Jeck Seng, who is from MCA, had won by a whopping 15,086-vote majority by garnering 25,466 votes against Harapan's candidate Karmaine's 10,380 votes.
Malaysiakini had reported that the results showed that Chinese-majority polling districts were abandoning Harapan at a rate more than double than that of Malay-majority polling districts. - Mkini
