Jeck Seng sworn in as Tanjung Piai MP

BN's Wee Jeck Seng was sworn in at the Dewan Rakyat today as the new Tanjung Piai parliamentarian after winning the by-election last Saturday.
The MCA leader took his oath before the Dewan Rakyat Speaker Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof.
"I congratulate Wee Jeck Seng for his victory in the Tanjung Piai by-election on Nov 16," Ariff said.
"Dewan Rakyat has the highest status in formulating the laws of the country for the sake of all Malaysians.

"I am sure the honourable (Tanjung Piai MP) will implement his duty with honour according to the supremacy of the institution. I wish the member will serve excellently," he added.
Jeck Seng, who was the two-term Tanjung Piai MP between 2008 and 2018, lost in the 14th general election, and made a comeback in the recently concluded poll with a landslide victory - a majority vote of 15,086.
With Jeck Seng's victory, MCA now has two parliamentarians. Previously, MCA president Wee Ka Siong was the sole MP in the House.
MCA contested 39 parliamentarian seats, and won only one seat in 2018 general election.
Jeck Seng secured 25,466 votes in the Tanjung Piai by-election, while Pakatan Harapan candidate Karmaine Sardini only bagged 10,380 votes.
Those who lost their deposits included Gerakan's Wendy Subramaniam, who won 1,707 votes, and Berjasa's Badhrulhisham Abdul Aziz, who obtained 850 votes. Two independent candidates, Ang Chuan Lock and Faridah Aryani Abd Ghaffar, won 380 votes dan 32 votes respectively. - Mkini
