BN MP - sing Negaraku, recite Rukun Negara before Parliament sitting starts

PARLIAMENT | A parliamentarian suggested today that all MPs should sing the national anthem Negaraku and recite the Rukun Negara before the start of every Dewan Rakyat session.
Salim Sharif (BN-Jempol) made the suggestion in the Lower House, saying that this should be done to increase the spirit of patriotism among all MPs.
"In strengthening our loyalty to the country, what if the ministry (organises) singing of Negaraku and Rukun Negara recital before we start (the sitting)?

"So that the spirit will be inculcated in us that we are holding the keys to this country's laws and increase our love for the country," Salim said when posing an additional question during the parliamentary question-and-answer session this morning.
He raised the matter when de facto National Unity Minister P Waythamoorthy was answering another question by Pakatan Harapan MP Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh (Ledang), who asked about government's initiative to instil patriotism among the people and the action to be taken against those who question the duties and responsibilities of the Royalty, soldiers, police and others.
To the suggestion by Salim, Waythamoorthy said it was a good idea and perhaps could be considered by the Dewan Rakyat speaker.
"I believe that it is a very good idea, and perhaps Tan Sri speaker can make a ruling on this," he said.
On a question regarding action against those who had flown the national flag, the Jalur Gemilang upside down as a mark of protest, Waythamoorthy said the authorities have taken stern action against them. - Mkini
