We merely suggested motion of no-confidence against Anwar - PKR youth leader

Lembah Pantai PKR Youth vice-chief Nazrin Idham Razali admitted that he and several others had merely suggested for a motion of no-confidence against party president Anwar Ibrahim but did not submit it during the 2019 PKR Youth Congress.

He told Malaysiakini that it depends on other leaders or youth representatives to bring the motion to the congress in Malacca on Friday.

PKR's national congress would be held from Thursday to Sunday in Malacca this week.

"We only suggested for a motion of no-confidence against Anwar... it depends on the AMK (youth) central leadership council to bring it to the congress," he said when contacted today.

The alleged no-confidence motion was raised in join statement by Nazrin (below, left), Sandakan pro-tem secretary Isaac Wong Kah Kiet and Lembah Pantai committee members - Mohd Nur Fadli Omar and Muhammad Yazid Mohamad Salleh - early this month, amid the rift between Anwar and Azmin factions.

The group, which is aligned to party deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali, urged leaders at all levels, including the central leadership council (MPP) members, to push for a motion of no-confidence against Anwar for allegedly undermining the reformation agenda.

Previously, it was reported that Azmin and those aligned to him are planning to hold a separate congress during the same period but party adviser Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail ticked off the other congress, saying that there is only one official congress.

"To us, the party is organising one (national) congress only, that is the official congress,” she said.

During the central leadership council meeting last month, party secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution had confirmed that Azmin would officiate the Wanita congress while Wan Azizah would do the same for the youth wing congress next month.

It had created another episode of drama within PKR as Azmin's faction claimed that it should be Azmin who officiate the youth wing congress as per tradition. However, Anwar's faction argued that Wan Azizah was chosen as she holds the highest government position in the party. - Mkini
