It was just a RM50 compound, we're still open for business, says nasi kandar outlet

GEORGE TOWN: One of the two nasi kandar outlets that was compounded by the Penang Island City Council (MBPP) on Thursday (Feb 20) wants customers to know that it is still open for business.
Deens Maju Nasi Kandar and Nasi Kandar Clear (not related to Nasi Kandar Line Clear on Penang Road) were slapped with compounds totalling over RM200 but they were not ordered to shut down.
Deens Maju Nasi Kandar manager Mohamed Ismail Seeni Mohamed said the restaurant had received an 88% score (Grade A) during MBPP's inspection.
"We were only issued a small compound of RM50 for not having the canned drinks in storage stacked high enough, and we are in the midst of rectifying it.
"It's just a minor issue and we assure our customers not to be taken aback," he said, adding that its food delivery services is also operating as usual.
Meanwhile, Abdul Latiff Ali who owns famous Nasi Kandar Line Clear on Penang Road, said many were confused over reports that its outlet had been compounded.
"We have no relation to Nasi Kandar Clear.
"Many people thought it was part of our nasi kandar franchise, it is a misuse of our name and we have no connection to their outlet.
"We are open as normal and the MBPP checked our outlet two weeks ago and we were given clearance," he said on Friday (Feb 21) wanting to clear the confusion. - Star
