Amidst factional infighting between Bersatu factions aligned to Muhyiddin Yassin and Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Umno supreme council member Annuar Musa said his party would not interfere in Bersatu’s internal matters.
Instead, the federal territories minister said he believes Bersatu is becoming stronger.
“BN and Muafakat Nasional does not want to interfere with Bersatu’s internal matters. We believe Bersatu is becoming stronger,” he told Malaysiakini in a WhatsApp message.
He said this when asked whether the tumult within Bersatu would affect the Perikatan Nasional coalition.
In the latest round of political manoeuvres, Bersatu organising secretary Suhaimi Yahya issued termination letters to five Bersatu leaders including Mahathir yesterday for sitting in the opposition bloc during the May 18 parliamentary sitting.
The five MPs have rejected the letters and moved to sack Suhaimi instead.
Bersatu secretary-general Hamzah Zainudin said Suhaimi will remain in his post unless sacked by Muhyiddin, who is the party president. - Mkini
