The BN supreme council today declared its undivided support for Muhyiddin Yassin as the prime minister and pledged to back him in the event of a no-confidence vote in the Dewan Rakyat.
However, BN was not immediately on board with the proposal to turn Perikatan Nasional into a formal coalition stating that the respective component parties comprising Umno, MCA, MIC and PBRS needed to undergo "certain processes".
"BN will continue to provide undivided support and trust for Muhyiddin's leadership as the eighth prime minister.
"If there is a motion of no-confidence in Parliament, it was decided that all BN MPs will vote en-bloc to support Muhyiddin as prime minister," said BN chairperson Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (above) in a statement today after chairing a BN supreme council meeting.
He noted that BN is the largest bloc in the PN government with 43 MPs.
"BN will continue to support the Perikatan Nasional government led by the prime minister.
"On the proposal to formally register PN as a party, BN is of the view that the BN component parties need to undergo certain internal processes respectively," he said. - Mkini
